Wonderworking Sitka Icon visits the Cathedral on the Feast of St. Sergius

The Cathedral was blessed with a visit of the Wonderworking Sitka Icon of the Mother of God, on the Feast of St. Sergius of Radonezh, Patron Saint of the Cathedral. Bishop Peter of Cleveland officiated the Divine Services for the Feast, joined by the Dean of the Cathedral Archpriest Peter Burlakov, Priest Peter Selenoi from Cleveland, Priest Victor Trotskyy from Detroit, Priest Dragomir Tuba from St. Michael the Archangel Serbian Church in Akron, OH, and Protodeacon Joseph Jarostchuk from Jordanville.  Travelling with the Icon was Archimandrite Isidore, Archpriest Alexie Ashoak, and Subdeacon Paul Ericson from Alaska.
The Icon arrived during the Hours, and was met by Bishop Peter and the other Clergy. The Icon was brought into the Cathedral with the singing of the Troparion of the Icon. The faithful gathered for the Feast came forward to venerate the Wonderworking Icon throughout the services.
After the Divine Liturgy, a Moleiben was served to the Icon and St. Sergius.  The Cathedral is blessed to have Relics of St. Sergius from the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra.  These Relics were given to the Cathedral with the help of Mr. Sergei Kaminsky, long time parishoner of the Cathedral.  Mr. Kaminsky and his wife Helen, former Head of the Sisterhood, received a 'Gramata' for their years of dedication and hard work at the Cathedral.  After the Services, the Sisterhood held a Festal Luncheon in the Church hall.  During this time, Archimandrite Isodore spoke about the history and travels of the Sitka Icon, and Archpriest Alexie told about Church life in Alaska.  Fr. Alexie felt great joy that he was present for the Feast of St. Sergius, who is also the Patron Saint of his Church in Alaska.  After the meal, the faithful returned to the Church to venerate the Icon, and with all present singing the Troparion to the Icon, She departed the Cathedral.
