The Clery of St. Sergius Cathedral travelled to Moscow, Russia to participate in the serivces and activites surrounding the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion, reuniting the Russian Orthodox Church. Bishop Peter of Cleveland, Priest Ilia Marzev, and Priest Peter Burlakov served at the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord in Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow. The Liturgy was preceeded by the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion by Patriarch Alexei II and Metropolitan Laurus. Following the Liturgy, and exhibit was opened in the museum of Christ the Savior Cathedral about the history of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad and the persecution of the Church in Russia during communist times. Joining the Pilgrimage to Moscow was the Cathedral Choir director, Reader Alexander Petrovsky, Reader Anton Alekseyenko, Mr. Georg Abakumov (delegate to the IV All-Diaspora Sobor), and numerous parishoners of the Cathedral.

On Thursday May 24, Mitred Archpriest Peter Burlakov visited International Independent University of Environmental and Political Science with invitation of A.T. Nikitin, a University Director. Accompanying Father Peter were choir director of Saint Sergius Cathedral in Cleveland Alexander Phillipovich Petrovsky, Reader Anton Alekseyenko, and parishioners of Cathedral. The lecture was held in one of university halls and was dedicated to signing of the Act of Canonical Communion on May 17 between Russian Orthodox Church in Russia and in the Diaspora. Father Peter gave speech about main controversies that held two parts of Russian Church apart for almost 90 year and touched base on his look as an outsider on modern Russia. Father Peter answered questions about life of Russian Church Abroad, about attitudes toward reconciliation, as well as the path toward reunification. After the discussion, the university director, Sergey Stanislavovich Stepanov, thanked Father Peter for finding time to attend and talk at the university. Everybody who attended received a blessing from father Peter. After the lecture, Father Peter was presented with gifts and guests were invited to lunch in the university cafe.
