The Orthodox Christian community of the Cleveland area was blessed with
the visit of the Wonderworking Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God.
The Icon was present for the celebrations of the Feast of St. Sergius
at the Cathedral, then travelled throughout the Cleveland area visiting
neighboring Orthodox communities during the following week. The Dean of
the Cathedral, Priest Ilia Marzev, travelled with the Icon, joined by
Reader Alexander Petrovsky. The Wonderworking Icon visited the Serbian
Monastery 'Marcha', Archangel Michael Serbian Church (Arkon, OH), St.
Tikhon Mission (Sandusky, OH), and St. Vladimir Church (Ann Arbor, MI).
There were numerous Akathists held at the Cathedral as well, giving
many faitherful the opportunity to venerate this precious Icon. At the
end of the week, the Icon travelled with the Cathedral clergy to
Chicago for the Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God, the
holiday of the Diosean Cathedral.
