New Update: December 27, 2004
On Friday, December 24, Evgenia was buried in her hometown, Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $17,000. Thus, after funeral and transportation expenses, we were able to send $7,000 dollars to Genady and Galina to help them in this difficult time for them. After Eastern Orthodox Christmas (January 7), our parishioner Mr. Vladimir Nikitin will personally deliver Evgenia's personal belongings to her parents.

The Plain Dealer: Church helps family in Russia

December 15, 2004

From Father Victor Boldewskul:

Dear friends,

On behalf of Eugenia's parents, Genady and Galina, I thank all for your heartfelt support and love in the face of this tragedy. As of Wednesday morning, you have given $7,800 dollars. May our Lord reward your generosity. On Friday, a representative from the Russian Consulate will arrive and seal the casket. Thanks to your help, we will be able to send Eugenia home rather shortly.

At the end of this month, one of our parishioners, Mr. Vladimir Nikitin, on his own expense will personally deliver Evgenia's personal belongings to her parents. He will also pass on the numerous cards and letters you have sent, along with some financial assistance from the established fund. Should the current trend continue, we will be able to help with their expenses in Russia as well. We will continue to inform as to the progress of the collection, and update as to the progress of Eugenia's return home.

Yesterday the Church received this touching card addressed to Eugenia's parents. She wrote: "...I pray the funds will be raised, to return your beloved child to you. I am so sorry for the accident that claimed your child's life, and I pray for the family of the gentleman who suffered this heart attack. How difficult this burden must be for them as well. Your child will be with you in your memories, and the promise of the Christian body and family is that we will be with our beloved departed when we become ONE with HIM..."

May the memory of Eugenia be eternal!

In Christ,
Priest Victor Boldewskul
